When Did Keepin' It Real Go Wrong?

That's a simple question which can be answered in many ways. This question is related to the current state of the music industry and how "real" music is being pushed into the background by music that is deemed by the powers that be as commercially viable. I think once non music people started to come into the picture that is when I think keepin' it real got pushed further down the totem pole thanks to protecting that bottom line.
